New MySpace opens to public

myspace-newYes, MySpace has been re-launched with a new design and if you open it now, you will see Justin Timberlake’s face all over it. Timed with release of Timberlake’s latest single “Suit & Tie,” who is also site’s prominent investor, new MySpace is now open to any and every one.

The so-called new version of this yesteryear social network reached beta last year in July and was accessible to a select few on invite basis until now.

You can now create accounts on MySpace using Facebook/Twitter credentials, or use your old MySpace login. If you are not interested in either of the two options, you can also create a fresh account and not use your existing social IDs.

The major emphasis seems to be on Music in this new avatar of MySpace( FREE Unlimited music and videos). In terms of the site design, there is this audio deck, which is present at the bottom of every page. You can use it to play and add songs to queues. Other prominent feature is “Discover”, which brings up a menu of trending music stories, displayed in square layout.

As you would expect in any social network, you can post status updates, photos, or music that will appear in a Twitter-like stream.

The new look seems to have gone live in last few days, and it even gives the users an opportunity to switch back to the old layout by clicking the grey-bar at the top. We are still waiting for an official announcement and will let you know when that happens.
